Botulinum toxin

A substance produced by a bacterium (Clostridium botulinum), which when injected into a muscle paralyzes it for a certain period of time.

Facial wrinkles are the natural expression of the process of tissue aging, the action of muscles (expression lines), and secondary damage to sun exposure.

It is used applied to the muscles of the forehead, the eyebrows and the “chicken leg” more frequently. It can also be injected into the neck and chin. It is performed in the office, the plastic surgeon asks the patient to wrinkle the brow, forehead or eyes to identify the muscle mass and the toxin is injected with a very fine needle. You should be clear about the shape of your eyebrows and if you want to modify them within the limits of your muscles.

It is recommended not to massage the injection area and place indirect local ice; You should avoid permanent ice, you could have skin burns. Your surgeon will summon you by the tenth day to assess the changes that occur and, if necessary, reinforce the effect in some areas because the true strength of each muscle group is unpredictable. The action of the toxin is highly variable but lasts approximately 3 to 4 months after which the procedure is repeated to maintain the effect. The most interesting thing about these applications is that a new way of expression is created in your brain, so many patients do not require new applications.
